Location: Logan, Utah
Description: Ride Around the Wellsvilles, a 72 mile bike event through beautiful Sardine Canyon and finishing with lunch at Willow Park. Same day registrations are permitted but not encouraged.
Route: “The ride around the Wellsvilles is one of my most favorite rides in all of Utah,” says Nate Stowers. It has lots of beautiful scenery, good climbs, and lots of straight-aways with good road and line of sight. The ride begins at 7am to 8am from Willow Park in Logan, The first 12 miles are along the valley floor and the eastern gentle rolls along on the foothill of the majestic Wellsville Mountains. Drop off excess clothing at the first rest stop in Wellsville, we’ll return it to the finish line. At Wellsville the route begins a climb of 1200 feet to the summit of Sardine Canyon. After a descent through Sardine the view opens to the Wasatch front at Brigham City where the second rest station awaits. The next stretch is along the western foothills along a meandoring road toward Deweyville, the third rest station. After another climb of about 600 feet over the Valley View Highway a fantastic vista of Cache Valley presents itself and carries you on to the last stop, Mendon. From there a back track of 7 miles along the Old Mendon Road delivers you to the finish and a yummy lunch. (Buy a lunch for your friend for $6). This ride is one of the very favorite rides of local bike riders. You won’t want to miss it. The RAW cause is to providing much needed food and clean drinking water, both locally and across boarders. Registration can be done on-line. A map and elevations of the route are also available on our web site. Come join us on July 16th!
