Road Respect Hurricane Metric Century Bike Ride & Family Festival

Location: Hurricane, Utah

Description: “Road Respect, Hurricane” is the final day of an epic statewide, week-long education campaign for car & bicycle safety. “Road Respect, Rules to Live By for Cars and Bikes’ was created by the Utah Department of Transportation to educate bicyclists and motorists about how to ‘Share the Road’ and to foster a more open and courteous dialog. A group of 25 cyclists will begin this educational campaign in Logan and ride throughout the state teaching both drivers and cyclists the rules of the road so that everyone respects everyone’s space and everyone gets home safely. Their journey will culminate in Hurricane on June 18 with “Road Respect, Hurricane” a Metric Century and Family Festival.

The Metric Century starts at 7am at the Hurricane Community Center with a ribbon cutting ceremony for Washington County’s first officially designated bike route. The new route winds through Hurricane and around Sand Hollow Reservoir, returning back to Hurricane. The Metric Century riders will continue to Springdale for the ‘Road Respect, Springdale’ Festival where they will meet the original 25 Road Respect cyclists as they finish their statewide journey. All cyclists will continue back to Hurricane to celebrate the final leg of the Road Respect Campaign with the Family Festival
