Red vs. Blue Time Trial

Location: Salt Lake City, Utah

Description: The Red vs. Blue Time Trial, presented by O.C. Tanner, pits the cycling clubs, alumni and fans of Brigham Young University against the University of Utah’s cycling clubs, alumni and fans in a time trial hill climb up Utah’s famed Traverse Ridge to help raise money and awareness for Bikes for Kids Utah, a non-profit organization that gives away 1,000 new bikes every year to underprivileged children in Utah.

The Red vs. Blue Time Trial begins at the LDS Chapel at 272 E. Traverse Point Dr. in Draper, Utah travels up Traverse Ridge Road and finishes at the intersection of Traverse Ridge Road and Deer Ridge Drive. The three-mile time trial course has an elevation gain of more than 1,300 feet with 10 percent to 12 percent grades in some locations.

In addition to the O.C. Tanner Cup, the club with the fastest average speed will win $1,000. Prizes for the top three in five age categories, for both men and women, will be awarded as well.

Riders Do Not have to be affiliated with BYU or the U of U cycling clubs to ride. You can choose what club you want to ride for to help them win the O.C. Tanner Cup.

Heber Century 2009

Location: Heber, Utah

Tour de Peninsula 2009

Location: San Mateo, California

Description: Everybody is invited to take part in one of Northern California’s most fun recreational bicycle rides and family social gatherings – the Tour de Peninsula – help in scenic Coyote Point Park fronting the San Francisco Bay in San Mateo. Founded 18 years ago, the TdP is a perennial highlight of the Bay Area’s recreational social calendar, offering a variety of routes to suit everyone from young children and first time riders to serious cyclists. During and after the ride, a day of family fun activities takes place in the park, with a children’s playground, barbecuing, picnics and no doubt much lively conversation. Proceeds benefit San Mateo County Parks and Bicycle Sunday – car free biking on Canada Road.

The Salt Lake Challenge 2009

Location: Salt Lake City, Utah

Description: Join us and take the CHALLENGE! This exciting ride is unlike any other you have riden. First of all this is a team event! So grab your friend, partner, son, or daughter and prepare together. Second there is no set course! You will pick your own route between the various stops you will need to make. There will be some roads you will not be allowed to use. Third you will learn of some stops you will need to make along the course. And Fourth at each stop you and your partner will need to conquer a unique fun and whacky challenge.

This ride can best be described as a scavenger hunt on weels; but instead of collecting things you will meet fun challenges.

Help Support Bike Education and Youth Cycling – B2B4 Kids is a non-profit organization that works with our schools and youth to offer bike education. In addition B2B4 Kids supports several youth cycling clubs to encourage an active and fun cycling lifestyle as well as educational and cultural exchange opportunities through cycling.

Gorge Ride

Location: The Dalles, Oregon

Description: Recreational ride: 38.5 mile scenic ride through the Columbia River Gorge on the Historic Columbia River Highway and State Trail from the Gorge Discovery Center and Museum in The Dalles to the Mark O. Hatfield West Trailhead and back.

Ghost Town Century 2009

Location: Tooele, Utah

Description: Join us on a fun ride through some of Utah’s historical Ghost Towns of Yesteryear. This is the perfect ride to start the season. Mostly flat country with some rolling hills, little traffic, the Pony Express trail, and awe inspiring vistas. Keep a watchful eye and you may even see some old miners off in the distance. Keen ears may hear the faint notes of bugles from old Camp Floyd, which was the largest military installation in the United States & the third largest city in Utah, or hear the creak and moan of wagons along the old Mormon Wagon Train trail. Come, join the ranks of past Ghost Town Riders!
